Interview with staff member

1. How would you best describe Victoria secret?
VS is associated with looking sexy for yourself or for someone else. It gives women body confidence and makes them feel good. VS has connotations of looking good and people will purchase items from there just because of the brand because its seen as sexy.

2. What is your job role? And how long have you worked there?
I am a sales associate and i've worked there since august as a permanent contract but worked as a seasonal associate in the previous years but finally got kept on.

3.What have your impressions been of the store so far since working there?
I love my job and i love the reactions of customers after they've purchased something because they tend not to expect to buy something from us but surprise themselves and will always come back.

4. Do you purchase anything from the store? If so what was the last item you got?
I purchase regularly from the store but prior to working I hardly did due to how expensive it was but with my discount of 30% i have been buying more. The last item I bought was 2 days ago and it was a Victoria Sport jumper which had just come in.

5. What would you say is the best selling thing from your experience?
Best sellers tend to be the body mists because their is a huge range of them and all aged people buy them. Their are everyday deals which include 2 for £20 or 3 for £27 and people never just buy one.

6. Do you enjoy working there? What are the pros and cons?
I really like working there especially because of the people and the environment. When you tell people you work at VS it is often associated with good looking girls but this isn't necessarily true males have previously worked with us before and literally anyone can be taken on regardless of their appearance. This is what I like because its not the stereotype people think it is. The cons of working there is probable the long hours and the night shifts ranging from 10pm-7am with the annual sale and floor sets. But besides that everything is almost positive. We have a monthly reward which is called Angel of the month and one person gets it a month and is based on votes from all the employees for rewarding someone who has done well.

7. Have you ever served a male? If so how did that go?
yes all the time and they are probably the easiest customers to work with. they either have been given instructions on what they want and we just find the product or they have no idea and just follow our judgement and buy whatever we think is nice. It has always been a pleasing experience no awkwardness at all. Most of the time when men come in with women they will sit on the seats provided throughout the store.

8. Do you watch the vs fashion shows? What do you think about them
Yes! it is the best time of the year and the big build up for the stock is insane. It's so pretty and all the models look amazing with some of the models being my personal favourites on Instagram etc. The only negative thing I have to say about this is how all the models are so fit and slim which is an inaccurate representation of the store as we provide big sizes as well.

9. What are your impressions of the vs angels? Do you like them? Why?
Yes, i follows them on instagram regardless of the show because I like them in general in aspects of what they wear and their personal life. I also like to watch them train for the fashion show when they go to the gym as is inspires me to go and gives me new workouts.

10. Would you say Victoria Secret is more about empowering women or sexualising them?
Empowering definitely. I firmly believe it gives women confidence of looking good and from working there I have seen the transformation and the look on women faces when they look at themselves and it is the most rewarding part of the job.

11. Would you say vs has gone down hill since they first started?
No they have definitely gone up, more stores are opening in Newcastle and Glasgow and almost every week we beat last years sales and plans.
